The Boat Shoe

It's almost summer, and it just so happens that today is 94 degrees. What better opportunity is there to "blog" about summer footwear? Judging on my previous tangents you should have been able to infer that the time is......(drum roll please).........(more drum rolling)...now..the time is indeed.....NOW!!!

I'm sure you've seen all girls sport a pair of old navy flip flops, and I'm positive you've spoted the "daring guys" with the occasional American-Eagle-canvas-and-leather-blended flops. Well, there's, something old but new in the same spectrum. The Boat Shoe.

The Boat Shoe also go by the names of deck shoes and topsiders. Boat shoes generally lack soles with grip, so they are not a sporting sneaker, they're an exercise in form over function. Whether they are canvas, suede or leather, the boat shoe is perfect for a casual summer day. Pair them with jeans or khakis, this versatile form of footwear always adds style to your outfit. If it gets too warm out side simply roll up the slacks and throw a fedora on for a Bahamian look.

I(Chris) am pictured wearing a Lands End light blue button-up, Female gray cardigan by H&M's label "DIVIDED", some thrift jeans, and my Sperry Top-siders. Accessories include a couple bracelets and some clear-lens Urban Outfitters Wayfarers with turtle shell accents.
Matt is pictured wearing a turquoise and green plaid Macy's Button-up(short sleeve), a Levi's corduroy beige jacket, 511 Levi's skinny Jeans, and Urban Outfitters Boat Shoes under the label "Anchor". Accessories include a metallic green DW6900C G-Shock watch.

One Backpack Boy = Two Back Pack Girls

With every Backpack "Boy" there is an AMAZING Backpack Girl.
Three D's: Diverse, Daring, and Driven.
Our styles may be totally different from each other, but fashion has no identity; therefore, it is what we girls make it. Fashion, having no identity, becomes our own identity, we make it our own whether we're wearing a sweat shirt and sneakers or wearing our best from the back of the closet.
Fashion IS our Identity

The Skater (cont.)

The Skater

Over the past two years, the "skater" look has been gaining popularity. The skate look has several different elements to it. One of the most important elements is the wearing of skate shoes (vans, nike sb's, supras, etc.). Tight, fitted, or "skinny" jeans and cargo shorts are also a big part of this trend. Graphic tees and flannels are also very popular in this style. Being that we are The Backpack Boys we embrace this style and also add our own twist on it (ex: Adrian's electric blue cargo shorts).

The Cardigan

A cardigan is a type of sweater (or jumper) that ties, buttons or zips down the front. The cardigan was named after James Brudenell, 7th Earl of Cardigan, a British military commander, following his service in the Crimean War. It is usually machine or made woven from wool or cotton although cheaper ones may be partially acrylic. Cardigans are available for both genders.

Cardigans can be worn in several fashions. One can dress up very formal with cardigans. For example, one can wear a tie with a dress shirt underneath a cardigan (Adrian [on the right, upward] is sporting his cardigan in this fashion although his jeans and sneakers are very casual). One can also dress with a cardigan in a casual manner. Commonly cardigans are now being worn with graphic tees underneath. Vintage cardigans are also making a comeback these days (Chris [on the left, downward] is wearing a vintage female cardigan with a graphic tee underneath).

The Clan

Newburgh, New York a place of hoods, death, slum lords and historic views that date back to who knows when. I'm Chris Colas... And dare to be different. Some people hate me and some people love me. The same goes for my clan.

CLAN

(1. A traditional social unit in the Scottish Highlands, consisting of a number of families claiming a common ancestor and following the same hereditary chieftain.
2. A division of a tribe tracing descent from a common ancestor.
3. A large group of relatives, friends, or associates)

My "clan" is best associated with definition number 3. We're simply just a close group of friends that don't care what anyone thinks of us. Sure I'm fat, but who cares? What's the point in living unless your not true to yourself? We all love fashion and music and this is our blog. Its short, sweet and to the point welcome to " The Backpack Boys".....enjoy.
